Pastor Bill & Danita Stonebraker and their granddaughter Rachel
My wife, Danita, and I are the proud grandparents of eleven (so far), with four granddaughters and one grandson living downstairs from us with my son and daughter-in-law. What a joy it is to have these precious kids, ages 4 months to 6 years, living so close to us that we can see them grow and develop right before our eyes. My experience with my own kids, and now my grandchildren, makes me realize what a great and awesome responsibility it is to care for small children. I would certainly want to make sure that whomever I entrusted my grandchildren to would treat them with the same love and care that their parents and grandparents do.
As we come into another year of operation for the Calvary Chapel Christian Preschool, we are continuing to enroll those children ages 2.8 years (in other words, turning 3 by Dec.) through 5 years old. Our Preschool Director, Mrs. Perla Pelayo, and Head Teacher, Mrs. Susan Martin – both members of Calvary Chapel @ Komo Mai – have a combined experience of over 19 years working with preschool age children, having left their former positions to dedicate themselves to the kids at Calvary Chapel Christian Preschool.
We look forward to welcoming your child into our Preschool program, providing them with a happy, safe, and nurturing environment in which they may grow to their fullest potential in spirit, mind, soul and body. God bless you and your family.
Calvary Chapel Christian Preschool desires to help your child grow spirit-ually, socially, emotionally, mentally, and physically in a happy, safe and nurturing environment. Our goal is to ensure that the children in our care have many opportunities to...
Experience the love and greatness of God by learning many Bible topics as well as engaging in daily prayers and scripture memorization.
Form sound character by practicing the fruits of the Spirit according to Galatians 5:22 – namely love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control.
Establish genuine friendships among peers by learning how to cooperate, take turns, verbalize feelings, solve problems, share and care.
Gain independence by learning and practicing self-help skills.
Develop math and reading readiness along with fine motor skills, by engaging in activities such as number, letter, color and shape recognition, as well as cutting, pasting, painting, writing and drawing.
Exercise creative thinking and decision making by participating in art, music, science and social studies activities.
Build strong and healthy bodies by engaging in daily gross motor activities along with having nutritious snacks and lunches.
Calvary Chapel Christian Preschool is a ministry of Calvary Chapel Honolulu. We strive to provide correct training in righteousness, that the children would be thoroughly equipped for every good work, according to Second Timothy 3:17. We are licensed by the state of Hawaii and we careully follow all requirements for health and safety standards.
We ensure and maintain a low teacher-to-child ratio at all times, so that our teachers can provide the quality attention and care that your children need.
We partner with parents in discipline and all other developmental areas where consistency between home and school is necessary.

ABOUT US
CURRICULUM
Math: We will be working with numbers 1-15 through tracing and counting worksheets. Daily your child will be counting gradually from a number system that extends from 1 through 20. He or she will be learning about math concepts such as shapes, colors and numbers in order to build an early foundation in math.
Reading: A letter will be intro-duced each week in non-sequential order (which may extend into two weeks). Throughout the week, we will be learning this letter's name and daily your child will be reciting letters of the alphabet to reinforce letter identification. He or she will also be tracing the letter in both upper case and lower case.
Bible Time: A topic from the Bible along with an associated scripture will be introduced per week which will stem from the Letter of the Week. For example: C for Creation
or T for the Ten Commandments. They will be challenged to compre-hend the theme, as we will be reviewing it every day with ques-tions and discussions.
Sensory/Fine Motor: Daily your child will be participating in acti-vities that cater to the develop-
ment of his or her sensorimotor skills. Activities involving the use of pouring water, digging up shells in sand, or picking up grains of rice will serve to be an enjoyable means to support the development of fine motor skills. They will also be engaging in activities such as using playdough and cutting paper to specifically strengthen their hand mechanics.
Music and Art: Because music and art instill interest and enthusiasm toward learning, we will be singing songs and creating a work of art that ties into our Bible theme of the week. They will not only be exercising the power of creative expression through such activities but will also be taking this with them in memory and in heart for the week or even for the rest of their lives.
